The preparation and the first structural characterization of arylamido complexes of Ir(I), having the general formula trans-Ir(CO)(NHAr)(PPh₃)₂, where Ar=Ph (1), p-C₆H₄Me (2), 2,6-C₆H₃Me₂ (3), are described. Preliminary results of their facile insertion reactions with CO and CO₂ are also discussed.
