The synthesis of cyclopentacephenanthrylene (CPAP), a dicyclopenta-fused derivative of phenanthrene, is described.The 4,5-dihydro and 4,5,6,7-tetrahydro derivatives of CPAP were also prepared.These novel compounds are characterized by means of (1)H-NMR, UV-VIS and mass spectrometry.
