Synthesis of conformationally-restricted 2-alkenylcyclopropylcarbene-chromium complexes has been accomplished, and subsequent thermal ring-expansion reactions examined. Thermolysis of conformationally-restricted carbene complexes yielded products that suggest this unique ring-expansion reaction is very dependent upon conformational effects.
