Enantiopure (R) and (S) 3-hydroxymethylchromanes were prepared by the intramolecular nitrone cycloaddition strategy, starting from allyl-type ethers of 2-hydroxybenzaldehydes and using (R)-N-(α-phenylethyl)hydroxylamine as chiral auxiliary.
