Binding of heparan sulfate to fibroblast growth factor-2 total synthesis of a putative pentasaccharide binding site

The total chemical synthesis of the pentasaccharide methyl O-(α-L-idopyranosyluronic acid)-(1 → 4)-O-(2-deoxy-2-sulfamido-α-D-glucopyranosyl)-(1 → 4)-O-(α-L-idopyranosyluronic acid)-(1 → 4)-O-(2-deoxy-2-sulfamido-α-D-glycopyranosyl)-(1 → 4)-2-O-sulfo-α-L-idopyranosiduronic acid is reported.
