8-Hydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines are synthesized from m-hydroxyphenethyl ketone O-2,4-dinitrophenyloximes by the cyclization on the sp² nitrogen atom of the oxime derivatives using sodium hydride and sodium cyanoborohydride.
