A highly effective method for synthesis of N(ω)-substituted arginines as building blocks for Boc/Fmoc peptide chemistry

Chemically and optically pure N(ω)-substituted arginine derivatives were prepared with high yields in two steps, starting from N(α)-protected ornithine and ArSO₂N=C(SMe)₂. The compounds were applied to solid phase peptide synthesis using Boc as well as Fmoc chemistries.
