Enantioselective construction of the epoxy-γ-lactam moiety of epolactaene (1) was completed in 11 steps from (R)-lactaldehyde derivatives. Key steps include: (i) the stereoselective aldol reaction between (R)lactaldehyde and malonate ester; (ii) diastereo
