Reactions of benzoylsilane with benzylpentacarbonylmanganese (1) give ortho-η2-manganese complexes in high yield.The derived aldehyde complex can then be formed by fluoride-catalysed desilylation of the acylsilane complex.Coupling reactions of the acylsilane complexes with alkenes or alkynes are reported.
