Visible light irradiation of solutions containing [(η⁵-C₅H₅)(CO)₃ WSC(S)NMe₂] (1) and Fe₂(CO)₉ or Mn₂(CO)₁₀ leads to a transmetallation type of reaction and formation of Fe(S₂CNMe₂)₂ and Mn(CO)₄(S₂CNMe₂) respectively. However, the reaction or 1 with M(PPh₃)₄, M = Pt, or Pd, leads to conversion to the dicarbonyl chelate complex [(η⁵C₂H₅(CO)₂ W(S₂CNMe₂)].
