Synthesis of angular triquinanes from (+)-β-cedrol

Angular triquinanes such as (+)-silphinan-3,5-dione, silphin-3-en-3,5- dione or 2-bromosilphin-3-en-3,5-dione have been obtained from (+)-β- cedrene in seven steps and an overall yield of 8%.
