Some 1-azabutadienes react with 1,3-dienes at the central atom nickel(0) by oxidative coupling to form new binuclear nickel(II) complexes, in which the central unit is a diazadinickelacyclooctadiene.The structures of these compounds are investigated by spectroscopic measurements, especially by 13C NMR.A possible mechanism for these coupling reactions is discussed.The reverse reaction, a reductive decoupling of the systems, can be realised with strong ?-acid ligands or by thermal reactions.
