Stereochemistry of Allenic Compounds. 3. Geometrical Deformations of the Propadiene Unit in Cyclic Allenes

The structures of phenylurethane derivatives of cyclic allenes 7 were investigated by X-ray analysis. 7a and 7c form analogous pairs of homochiral chains and spontaneous resolution has been observed for 7b and 7c.Bending and twisting of the cumulated system were evidenced.Deviations from the ideal geometry, which were predicted by theoretical calculations, should be taken into account in the interpretation of the chiroptical properties of allenic compounds.
