Syntheses of the title compounds are described.A method has been developed for the synthesis of 2-methylthio-1,3-propanedithiol, which on treatment with iodine or sulphurdichloride yields 4-methylthio-1,2-dithiolane and 5-methylthio-1,2,3-trithiane respectively.
