A series of the title compounds (R=OMe, H, Me, Ph) were prepared and photochemical behaviors of these compounds were examined.Although most of the substrates underwent intramolecular <2+2> cycloaddition to give novel trishomocubanes upon irradiation, the phenyl derivative of Δ⁴ isomer gave a product via competing allylic hydrogen abstraction, as well as the cyclization product.
