(Triphenylphosphonium alkylide)triphenylmetal chloride <(C6H5)3<*>CHR-M(C6H5)3>Cl- (R: H, Me, i-pr; M: Ge, Sn, Pb) and (triphenylphosphonium alkylide)metal chloride <(C6H5)3<*>CHR>nMCln-, (M=Ge, n=4; M=Pb, n=2) have been isolated from a reaction mixture of alkylidenetriphenylphosphoranes and IVA-group metal compounds.The ylide in <(C6H5)3<*>CH2-Pb(C6H5)3>Cl- is bonded to the lead atom through the carbanionic donor atom.
