Optically active methylphenylisopropyltrityltin has been prepared by asymmetric synthesis.Its enantiomeric purity has been investigated by a microcalorimetric method, assuming that the mixture of enantiomers forms a racemic compound.The e.e. of a sample with <α>D25 22.9 deg (CCl4) has been evaluated to be approximately 22percent which would lead to an <α> value of about 100 deg for a pure enantiomer.The induction rate of the asymmetric reaction could therefore be estimated to be 15percent.
