A group of new compounds (RCp)(R'Cp)Nb(O)Cl has been isolated and the spectroscopic characteristics are described.In particular, the synthesis of diastereoisomeric pairs of optically active compounds was performed.All these species are synthesized via reaction 1: (equatian) (equatian).Reaction 2 is the first example involving reduction of niobium atoms in oxochlorodicyclopentadienylniobium.
