Simple furan, thiophene and pyrrole analogues of prostacyclin have been prepared from readily-available 4-alkvnyl ketones; the cyclohexa[b]-furano-prostacyclin analogue 3 has also been synthesised using the keto-alkyne cyclisation procedure.
