In summary, we have demonstrated that Beckmann
rearrangement can be carried out in a galvanostatic electrolysis
by electrolyzing ketoximes at ambient temperature without using
catalysts. Based on a series of experiments, a new radical
mechanism of electrochemical Beckmann rearrangement is
proposed. The reaction has the advantages of mild reaction
conditions, broad substrate scope, insensitivity to air, short
reaction time, and easy scale-up, making it an effective strategy
for introducing nitrogen into the C-C bond to synthesize amides.

Ketoxime 1 (0.50 mmol), nBu NBF (0.1 M), DCE (2.5 mL) and
HFIP (2.5 mL) were combined and added into an undivided
beaker-type electrolysis cell equipped with a magnetic stirring
bar, a platinum plate (1.0ꢀcmꢀ×ꢀ1.0ꢀcm) anode and a platinum
plate (1.0ꢀcmꢀ×ꢀ1.0ꢀcm) cathode. A constant current electrolysis
with a current density of 10.0 mA/cm2 was performed at rt.
These conditions were applied until the substrate was consumed
up or the product began to transform (monitored by TLC), and
then the electrolysis was stopped. The reaction mixture was
concentrated in vacuo, and the residue was purified by flash
chromatography on silica gel with petroleum ether/ethyl acetate
