(WAXRD). Retention of the PWA on the MCM-41 was also
confirmed by 31P CP-MAS solid state NMR study. The bands at
1486 and 1536 cmÀ1 in pyridine FTIR analysis evidenced the
Brønsted acid sites of the catalyst responsible for its high activity
in the deallylation reaction. Allyl aryl ethers with different
substituents having various electronic effects were selectively
deprotected over 20% PWA/MCM-41 catalyst. Deprenylation of
various substrates was also studied using similar reaction
conditions. Our catalyst (20% PWA/MCM-41) could be efficiently
recycled at least up to three times with marginal decrease in the
yields while leaching of the PWA from MCM-41 was not
observed by the hot filtration test.
