We have synthesized a series of enamines - derivatives of 1-cyanomethyl-2-methylenepyrrolidine - by reaction of 1-cyanomethylpyrrolid-2-one diethylacetal with compounds having a reactive methylene link.The enamines undergo a Thorpe-Ziegler cyclization in the presence of bases with the formation of pyrrolo<1,2-a>pyrrole derivatives.The configuration of the enamines obtained were studied using PMR spectroscopy.
