The infrared multiphoton dissociation of octafluorocyclobutane has been investigated by the use of two CO2 laser pulses of different frequency, synchronized by the same Q-switching mirror.The dissociation yield has been determined as a function of laser pulse energy, frequency of the dissociating pulse, substrate pressure, and interpulse delay.Accompanying transport phenomena (expansion and diffusion) were taken into account by the use of appropriate models.The kinetic behavior of highly vibrationally excited c-C4F8 molecules indicates that collisional relaxation occurs at nearly gas kinetic rates.
