CoTPP on TiO2-120s modified at 250 deg C under vacuum catalytically oxidized carbon monoxide rapidly with oxygen even at -79 deg C.Its catalytic activity was incomparably higher than that of commerical Hopcalite.Comparison of its catalytic performance with those of the same catalyst or different TiO2 supporting catalyst both evacuated at 200 deg C revealed unique features of the present catalyst in terms of its oxygen adsorption , the poisoning of adsorbed oxygen, and the insolubility of the complex in benzene.Both significant structural modification of the complex and its strong interaction with properly dehydrated TiO2-120s brought about by evacuation at 250 deg C may induce such extraordinary activity.
