Homologation of methanol in the gas phase with the SLPC system RuCl2(CO)2(PPh3)2 + CoI2 together with NaI and phosphane as additives gives high selectivities regarding ethanol and propanol.However, in contrast to the bulk reaction no ethers are formed.
