Preparation of Some Polycyclic Diamine Derivatives

The preperation of 3,11-disubstituted-3,11-diazahexacyclo<11.2.1.0^2,12.0^4,15.0^5,9.0^10,14>hexadecanes (3(X)) and the related pentacyclic compounds lacking the 2,12 C-C bond (4(X)) is reported.Included are 3(X) with X = H, Cl, CH3, NO, NH2, N(CH3)2, and N(CH2CH3)2 and 4(X) with X = H, CH3, NO, NH2, and N(CH3)2.Molecular mechanics calculations on 3(Me) and 4(Me) are discussed.
