exposure (Fig. 3) are well correlated with the stability of the NCs
against decomposition in TEM under electron beam (Fig. 4),
reflecting the change of the crystal structure from a deficient and
easier to be destroyed lattice to a well crystallized one.
Conversely the shift in the ease of degradation sheds some light
on the formation mechanism for the NCs, indicating first the
formation of a bromoplumbate ionic scaffold, with Cs ion infilling
lagging a little behind. Changes in the halide to metal ratio will
influence the ease of charge transfer between the two types of

towards the stoichiometric level may account for the improved

Isolation and purification of CsPbBr NCs
The crude solution was cooled in an ice-water bath. The unreacted
reagents were removed by centrifugation at 2000 rpm for 2 min. The
separated supernatant was continuously centrifuged at 5000 rpm for 10
min to precipitate NCs, which were then redispersed in toluene.

lifetimes and absolute PL quantum yield measurements were made on
an Edinburgh Instruments spectrometer system. PL decays were
measured using a 405 nm, 49 ps pulse width laser and a time-correlated
single photon counting system. Decay curves were fitted to a tri-
exponential decay function and the average lifetimes,
calculated as where are the amplitudes of the
component decay times, . The PLQYs were determined by an absolute
method using an integrating sphere with its inner face coated with
BENFLEC® (Edinburgh Instruments), fitted to the spectrofluorimeter.
