The C-Se and C-S bonds in ArSeCH2SeAr, PhCH2SeCH2SeCH2Ph, (p-t-Bu-C6H4SeCH2)2, 1,8-(MeSe)2C10H6, PhCH2SeMe, PhSCH2SPh, and PhCH2SCH2SCH2Ph are easily cleaved by iodine, while those of PhSe(CH2)3SePh, 1-MeSeC10H7, PhSeCH2I, and PhCH2SMe are not.The driving force of the reaction is also discussed.
