Abundantly available (+)-Δ³-Carene, 1 has been transformed into enantiomerically pure key intermediates viz. the enones (-)-7 and (+)-7, thus constituting a formal synthesis of both the enantiomers of Δ⁹⁽¹²⁾-Capnellene.
