Adsorbed oxygen, which is produced from N2O on Co-MgO and does not show any ESR signals, was found to be active for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane as well as O^- which is observable with ESR.Since the adsorbed oxygen can only be regenerated in the catalysis condition, it should be a reactive oxygen species involved in the catalytic cycle of this reaction.
