Article abstract of DOI:10.1021/ja00256a028

A new application of exciton coupling between a benzoate chromophore and planar 1,3-diene as well as α,β-unsaturated carbonyl chromophore (aldehyde, ketone, or ester) for determination of the absolute configuration of axially dissymmetric molecules is reported.The effect of Z/E configuration of the chromophore on exciton interaction is noted.
