  • General Description 1-Methylpyrrolidine (NMPD) is a heterocyclic amine used in catalytic hydrogenation reactions, such as the hydrogenation of 1-methylpyrrole over ruthenium catalysts, where it serves as a product. It can also be synthesized efficiently via a one-pot method from 1,4-butanediol and methylamine using Cu- and Ni-modified ZSM-5 catalysts, achieving high yields under optimized conditions. Additionally, NMPD is formed as a byproduct in the deprotection of phosphate-protected oligonucleotides under mild basic conditions. Its applications span catalysis, organic synthesis, and chemical intermediates.
