Preparation of Silver iodide: It is prepared by reaction of an iodide solution with a solution of silver ions. You can put the potassium iodide solution into the reactor, then add silver nitrate solution with stirring. The reaction will form a yellow silver iodide precipitate. The reaction should be in the dark or under red light environment.

Uses of Silver iodide: The mixture of the silver iodide with silver bromide can produce photographic emulsion. It can be used as raw materials of thermal batteries. It also can be used as a catalyst in chemical reactions. In the artificial rain, it is the ice nuclei formation agent.
