Nickel-catalyzed, ligand-free, diastereoselective synthesis of 3-methyleneindan-1-ols
Panchal, Heena,Clarke, Christopher,Bell, Charles,Karad, Somnath Narayan,Lewis, William,Lam, Hon Wai
, p. 12389 - 12392 (2018)
Nickel-catalyzed, highly diastereoselective annulations between activated allenes and 2-acetylarylboronic acid or 2-formylarylboronic acids are reported. No ligand for nickel is required, and the reactions proceed efficiently at room temperature to give a broad range of substituted 3-methyleneindan-1-ols. Preliminary results of an enantioselective variant are also described.
Kinetic studies of conjugate addition of amines to allenic and acrylic esters and their correlation with antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus
Kiattisewee, Cholpisit,Kaidad, Angkit,Jiarpinitnun, Chutima,Luanphaisarnnont, Torsak
, p. 1059 - 1068 (2018)
Abstract: Kinetic reactivities of various allenic and acrylic esters in conjugate addition reactions with various amines were investigated. Competition experiments showed that amines reacted selectively with allenic esters, which was also confirmed by quantitative determination of the rate constants. The antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus of allenic and acrylic ester derivatives were also determined. Allenic esters were found to exhibit a higher antibacterial activity than its acrylic counterparts. A correlation between the kinetic property and the antibacterial activity suggested that a conjugate addition may involve in the antibacterial mechanism of these unsaturated esters. Organocatalyzed [2+2] Cycloaddition Reactions between Quinone Imine Ketals and Allenoates
Liu, Teng,He, Chixian,Wang, Fan,Shen, Xiang,Li, Yongqin,Lang, Man,Li, Guijun,Huang, Chao,Cheng, Feixiang
, p. 518 - 526 (2020/10/12)
A new cycloaddition reaction of quinone imine ketals (QIKs), which could be utilized to the construction of functionalized azaspirocyclics under mild conditions, is described. This transformation involved a [2+2] cycloaddition reaction between QIKs and allenoates catalyzed by DABCO, and then treatment with 1 N HCl in one-pot. The strategy could provide a practical route to access azetidine-fused spirohexadienones in good to excellent yields and with high E -selectivity.
DMAP Mediated Efficient Construction of Functionalized Chromenes through One-Pot Reaction of para-Quinone Methides with Allenoates
Song, Zefeng,Jia, Yuping,Zhang, Daizhou,Wang, De
, p. 1942 - 1948 (2021/04/05)
A novel DMAP-mediated Rauhut-Currier/oxa-Michael addition cascade reaction of hydroxylphenyl-substituted para-quinone methide with allenoate was reported for the first time. A series of functionalized chromenes were successfully obtained with moderate to
Synthesis of vinylic sulfones in aqueous media

supporting information, p. 1060 - 1065 (2021/02/16)
A green method for the sulfination of allenic carbonyl compounds to access a wide variety of vinylic sulfones is developed. This reaction works in aqueous media under very mild conditions. This reaction is atom economic. A wide variety of vinylic sulfones could be obtained in moderate to excellent yields with wide functional group tolerance. The efficiency of this method is demonstrated in some reactions where the desired products can be isolated by filtration.
Phosphine-catalyzed dearomative [3+2] annulation of 3-nitroindoles and allenoates
Liu, Kui,Wang, Gang,Cheng, Shao-Jie,Jiang, Wen-Feng,He, Cheng,Ye, Zhi-Shi
, p. 1885 - 1890 (2019/06/21)
The efficient phosphine-catalyzed dearomative [3+2] annulation of 3-nitroindoles with allenoates has been successfully developed, providing a facile access to cyclopenta[b]indolines with good to excellent yields and high diastereoselectivities. This strategy features mild reaction conditions, high functional group tolerance, and scalability. Additionally, the 2-nitrobenzofuran and 2-nitrobenzothiophene were good dearomative [3+2] annulation partners.
Synthesis of 1,3-Substituted Cyclobutanes by Allenoate-Alkene [2 + 2] Cycloaddition
Conner, Michael L.,Brown, M. Kevin
, p. 8050 - 8060 (2016/09/09)
A method for the [2 + 2] cycloaddition of terminal alkenes with allenoates is presented. This process allows for the rapid synthesis of 1,3-substituted cyclobutanes in high yield under simple and robust reaction conditions.
Regio- and Stereoselective Copper(II)-Catalyzed Hydrosilylation of Activated Allenes in Water: Access to Vinylsilanes
Pashikanti, Srinath,Calderone, Joseph A.,Nguyen, Matthew K.,Sibley, Christopher D.,Santos, Webster L.
, p. 2443 - 2446 (2016/06/09)
By using catalytic amounts of copper(II), 4-picoline, and dimethylphenylsilylpinacol borane, a series of allenoates were silylated on the β carbon in good to excellent yields and high (E)-selectivity. The mild and efficient silylation method is conducted in water under atmospheric conditions to afford vinylsilanes.
Cycloadditions, 12. - Influence of Aromatic Alkyl Groups on the Intramolecular Diels-Alder Reaction of Aryl Allenecarboxylates and of Allenecarboxanilides
Himbert, Gerhard,Fink, Dieter,Diehl, Klaus
, p. 431 - 442 (2007/10/02)
The aryl allenecarboxylates 4a-o and the allenecarboxanilides 9a, b, e, h, and l, which differ from one another only by the number or by the size of the alkyl groups attached to the arene, are synthesized by the ylide method via the appropriately substituted 2-halo-, 2-phosphonio-, and 2-phosphoranylideneacetic acid derivatives (1-->2-->3-->4 and 6-->7-->8-->9, resp.).By refluxing in xylene they are transformed into the tricyclic compounds 5 and 10; the rates and their differences are discussed.
