14534-87-3 Usage
Description
Ferric Benzoate is the ferric salt form of benzoate. Ferric benzoate has certain anti-corrosion properties. For example, it can be used as a novel steel corrosion inhibitor pigment for protective paint films. Ferric benzoate has been found particularly useful in providing intense, black permanent fingerprint records when used with the aforementioned metal complexing compounds

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 14534-87-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,4,5,3 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 14534-87:
(7*1)+(6*4)+(5*5)+(4*3)+(3*4)+(2*8)+(1*7)=103
103 % 10 = 3
So 14534-87-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Effect of solvent nature on the reaction of metallic iron with benzoic acid in a bead mill
Ivanov,Grechushnikov
, p. 597 - 602 (2008)
Results of an experimental study of the influence exerted by the solvent nature on the reaction rate, achieved degree of acid expenditure, selectivity with respect to salts of iron(II) and (III), and phase state of the reaction mixture in a single-stage reaction of iron with benzoic acid and atmospheric oxygen in the presence of a stimulating iodine additive are presented.
