General Description

1,3-Diethyl-5-methylbenzene, also known as cumene, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C10H14. It is a flammable liquid that is colorless with a characteristic sweet odor. Cumene is used as a solvent, as well as an intermediate in the production of phenol and acetone. It is also used in the production of other chemicals, such as dimethylphenol and acetophenone. Cumene is considered to be a hazardous chemical and should be handled with care, as it can cause skin and eye irritation, as well as respiratory and central nervous system effects if inhaled or ingested. It may also be harmful to aquatic organisms and the environment.
