6-Hydroxy-(4E)-sphingenine-containing sphingolipids are found in mammalian and bacterial membranes and have multiple intra- and intercellular functions. Most sphingolipids contain a (2S,3R)-2-amino-1,3-diol core structure, but only limited examples of unnatural (2S,3S)-2-amino-1,3-diol derivates have so far been reported. Using an underexplored hydrozirconation-transmetalation reaction and an unusual three-step-one-pot deprotection sequence, we were able to synthesize several unnatural (2S,3S)-6-hydroxy-(4E)-sphingenine-containing sphingolipids in only three (protected) or four (deprotected) consecutive steps, respectively, including a fluoresence-labeled derivative suitable for future biological studies.

A series of α- and β-carboxylated phospholipid prodrugs of dideoxy nucleosides have been synthesized and evaluated against HIV. An increase in biological effect with a factor of 500 has only been observed for the adenine nucleoside, which suggests that this prodrug approach is base specific.

Disclosed herein is a cosmetic care or makeup composition comprising a) at least one polyester resulting from esterification of at least one triglyceride of at least one hydroxylated carboxylic acid with at least one aliphatic monocarboxylic acid and with at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, and b) at least one pasty compound. This composition makes it possible to obtain a deposition on a keratin materials which can be lubricious, glossy, and comfortable, can have sharply defined outlines, does not migrate, and whose color intensity can be enhanced and/or whose color retention after challenge can be enhanced.

Disclosed herein is a composition, for example, a cosmetic care and/or makeup composition for a keratin material, comprising, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, i) at least one polyester resulting from esterification of at least one triglyceride of at least one hydroxylated carboxylic acid with at least one aliphatic monocarboxylic acid and at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, ii) at least one oil of a molar mass ranging from 650 to 10 000 g/mol, and iii) at least one colorant. The composition may possess cosmetic properties and can, for example, endow the makeup or care product with properties of gloss, smoothness of application and comfort. Further disclosed herein is the use of the at least one polyester and the at least one oil with a molar mass ranging from 650 to 10 000 g/mol in a physiologically acceptable composition as an agent for endowing the composition with properties of slip, gloss, comfort, definition, non-migration, enhanced color intensity and/or enhanced color retention after challenge.

The present invention relates to a personal care composition comprising a three dimensional gel polymeric network comprising: a. a polymer; b. one or more solid particles that are entrapped within said polymer during polymerization of said polymer; and c. a solvent in which said polymer is dispersed. Another embodiment further includes at least one second colorant that is substantially similar to an at least one first colorant which is a solid particle and wherein said second colorant is dispersed within said composition but is not entrapped in said polymer and is separate and distinct from said network. In contrast, a third embodiment allows for the at least one second colorant to be substantially different from the at least one first colorant.

A skin treatment composition is provided which includes a crosslinked siloxane elastomer gel of specific yield point, a skin-conditioning agent, a volatile siloxane and water. Inclusions of the select elastomers provide improved uniform distribution of the pigments.
