Ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) mediated novel dimerizations of 4- hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-ones: The first example of reactions of oxygencentered radicals from 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds
Ye, Jia-Hai,Xue, Jie,Ling, Ke-Qing,Xu, Jian-Hua
, p. 1365 - 1368 (1999)
Reactions of 4-hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-ones (1) and 3-alkylated 44- hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-ones (2) with CAN in methanol gave quinolin-2(1H)-one dimers 3, 10 and 11 with C-C and C-O linkages between the two nitrogen containing six-member rings, respectively, showing the ambident reactivities of α, α' -dicarbonylalkyl radicals as carbon- and oxygen-centered radicals.
Novel aspects of the silver carbonate promoted reaction of hydrazonyl chlorides with homoallylic and homopropargylic alcohols
Broggini, Gianluigi,Garanti, Luisa,Molteni, Giorgio,Zecchi, Gaetano
, p. 1945 - 1953 (2007/10/03)
The title reaction gives, in addition to trivial side-products, both ring-closed products (3, 4, 14, and 15) and open-chain products (5-8, and 16). The role of the silver ion and the mechanistic possibilities for the formation of the various kinds of products are discussed.
SILVER CARBONATE PROMOTED REACTION OF HYDRAZONYL CHLORIDES WITH ALLYLIC ALCOHOLS
Garanti, Luisa,Molteni, Giorgio,Zecchi, Gaetano
, p. 777 - 786 (2007/10/02)
The title reaction affords two main kinds of products: (i) pyrazole derivatives due to cycloaddition of a nitrile intermediate to the ethylenic bond; (ii) open-chain carbonyl compounds due to the electrophilic attack of a nitrilium-like carbocation to the ethylenic bond.Mechanistic possibilities are discussed.
