The substitution of “didymium” for yttrium in the 1-2-3 superconductor yielded a low-critical temperature superconductor (Tc≈ 40 K). The physical properties, i.e. electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility data, are presented for two different didymium products. The causes of this lowering of Tc are discussed in terms of the chemical composition of didymium and its electronic/size effects.
