The Avco continuous moving bed ion exchange process and large scale desalting

Add time:07/20/2019 Source:sciencedirect.com
A truly continuous countercurrent moving bed ion exchange system is described. Test data for a 15,000 gpd laboratory unit is presented which verifies the basic feasibility of the system. The system is shown to be particularly suitable for large scale membrane softening pretreatment and brackish water desalting because of its inherently smaller plant size and almost stoichiometric chemical usage. The considerations involved in scaling the system to optimum large size units are discussed.
