(R,R)-2,3-Disubstituted piperidines were readily synthesized starting from (R)-(+)-5-bromo-2-hydroxypentanenitrile (R)-2. An enantioselective (R)-oxynitrilase-catalyzed transcyanation was used to prepare the starting cyanohydrin (R)-2.
