Stripping potentiometry of barium ion in mixed aqueous tetraethylammonium bromide/ethanol solutions

The extension of stripping potentiometry to the electropositive ion barium was investigated using a thin mercury film on a glassy carbon electrode. Barium was detected at low ppm levels in water/ethanol solutions containing tetraethylammonium bromide as electrolyte. Several parameters were investigated to determine the optimal response for Ba stripping. These parameters included the peak integration potential, peak width, pH, solvent, supporting electrolyte, deposition time, and stir rate. Also, the precision was tested on five replicate measurements.
