Treatment of 3-alkynylpyridine N-oxides with SeBr4 affords 2-R-3-bromoselenopheno[2,3-b]pyridine N-oxides, whose structures were confirmed by 1H, 13C, 77Se and 15N NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.
