Investigations of the behavior of some novel catalysts: polyorganosiloxane-supported phosphonium salts in the reaction of oxiranes with s-phenyl thioacetate

The catalytic behavior of insoluble polyorganosiloxane gels containing amino groups or phosphonium salts was examined in the reaction of oxiranes with S-phenyl thioacetate. The catalysts, poly(p-chloromethyl)phenylsiloxanes containing phosphonium salts, have high catalytic activity and the observed rate constant (kobsd) of the reaction shows a linear relation with the initial concentration of catalyst.
