The molar heat capacities of NiSi have been determined by low-temperature adiabatic calorimetry at temperatures between 8 and 400 K. From the heat capacity data the derived thermodynamic functions Δ0TH0 and S0 were calculated. At T = 298.15 K a molar standard heat capacity of 45.55 ± 0.05 J K−1 mol−1 and a molar standard entropy of 47.58 ± 0.04 J K−1 mol−1 have been found. The entropy of formation for NiSi was calculated to be −1.11 ± 0.08 J K−1 mol−1.
