The dissolution kinetics of Hydroboracite (cas 12046-12-7) in water saturated with carbon dioxide were investigated and the effects of particle size, stirring speed, reaction temperature and mineral pre-heating on the dissolution rate have been evaluated. It was found that the dissolution rate increases with increasing reaction temperature, decreasing particle size, and with mineral pre-heating. It was also observed that the stirring speed has almost no effect on the dissolution rate. Different kinetic models were analysed and using discrimination model criteria, it was determined that the experimental data are best fitted by the following model X=1−exp (−ktn), where the parameter n is about 0.6.
