The high-temperature (HT) phase of Fe(C5D5)2 is easily undercooled to exhibit a λ-type phase transition at 164.1 K in the metastable state. The stable low-temperature (LT) phase is obtained by annealing the undercooled HT phase around 190 K. A first-order phase transition characterized by a superheating effect occurs at 251 K between the stable LT and HT phases. A comparison with Fe(C5H5)2 has been made.
