The magnetic properties of the rare earth disilicides (RSi2) have been re-investigated. We confirm the occurrence of ferromagnetism in PrSi2 and antiferromagnetism in GdSi2, TbSi2, DySi2 and HoSi2. NdSi2 orders at TN = 10 K and ErSi2 orders at Tc = 4.5 K. Crystal field effects are important throughout the entire series.
