Treatment of bis-triorganotin sulfides (R3Sn)2S or diorganotin sulfides R2SnS with diferrocenylmercury gives triorganostannylferrocenes and diorganostannyldiferrocenes, respectively. Reaction of R2SnS with chloromercuriferrocene and 1,1′-bis(chloromercuri)ferrocene gives diorganochlorostannylferrocenes and 1,1′-bis(diorganochlorostannyl)ferrocenes.
