Bulk Cu(II)-Bis(2-Thio-6-Picoline-N-Oxide) (CuBTPNO) was synthesized and its chloroform solution was converted to nano CuBTPNO (average particle size: 20.0 nm) by the new micelle breaking route. The bulk CuBTPNO was also converted to copper oxide (CuO) nano particles (average particle size of 6.8 nm) via thermolysis. The synthesized products were characterized by elemental micro analysis, XRD, SEM, DLLS, TGA, BET, AAS, FT-IR and UV–vis spectrophotometry. The preparation experiments were optimized by Taguchi designs.
